Today is the day for us to move on to the next spot. And we are ready. Aside from the poor phone reception we have here, we are getting eaten alive here by the mosquitoes. Ava even got one right on her face.
The girls were up bright and early and ready for the day. What will it be today, Mama? A beach day? More alligators? What what what?!?!
We checked into Collier-Seminole State Park yesterday without really looking into what was available. We knew pretty much about what to expect since it was a state park. We have been traveling almost every day since we got to Florida, we needed to settle down somewhere to catch our breath a bit so we registered for 3 nights.
We drove to Fort Myers last night to a Walmart and once again were surprised by a no overnight parking sign at our preferred location. Fortunately the second option was ok and we stayed there next to a couple of other RVs for the night.
Today we checked out of our oceanfront campsite at Fort De Soto County Park and had no where to go. We haven’t had an itinerary while in Florida. We just take it day by day. Looking at maps. Looking at recommendations. Looking at Ava for answers.
Mila woke up this morning not a happy camper. Her tooth that is on the verge of busting through her bottom gum has really been bothering her. Here she is with tears and drool dripping out of her face at the same time.
We all forgot that today was St. Patrick’s Day. I blame all of my friends on Facebook. No one had any green status updates in the morning! But in all fairness they were all still sleeping soundly while we were getting dressed for a mini travel day. Ummm, I did make a green blanket fort for Ava in the morning. That should could for something, right?
This morning we were greeted with these geese at our door step. I don’t really know what kind of geese they are but they sure were friendly.
I am seriously trying to keep our laundry down to a minimum. I was doing so well… until Mila started eating solids… and Ava insisted on feeding her. Hey Airstream, do you have a washer and dryer option?
Our first few days in Florida have been a slew of one night stays with short jaunts to the next spot in the afternoon. We have gotten use to spending the whole day and all night driving and logging in the neighborhood of 200 – 400 miles during travel days. We have slowed down significantly since we got to Florida to about 50-75 miles a day and for good reasons – so we can see clear skies and fluffy clouds like this one.
We have fabulous timing. Not only are we in Florida during the most popular time of the year (Spring Break!), but we are also in the most popular Spring Break destination in the state. Lucky us. Because the park was booked for the weekend, we had to pack up after only one night at St. Andrews State Park.
