Guess what we did today? We cut a hole in our new van… on purpose. Haha. Yup. Today is the day we installed our Fan-Tastic Vent Fan. Our friends at Dometic sent us one of these months ago for the FWC camper but we never got a chance to install it so it’s going into our Sprinter now.
Before we get into day 7 of the van build, I need to document the story of saying good-bye to our old rig. The day started bright and early with us headed to LAX at 6 am. You see, we sold the rig to a couple of fellow Airstreamers and today was the day they are flying to California to pick it up.
Good morning! We didn’t sleep the best last night. Tossed and turned a bit over our crinkle on the other side of the van. We were a bit hesitant to go outside just in case any other warping happened but thankfully nothing else happened while we slept. Dan even thought it might have looked a little better today. We started off day 6 of our build by ordering some windows for the van. We decided to forgo the more used CR Lawrence windows for the Artic Tern ones from Tern Overland.
When considering building out our own van, some of the more intimating items included running propane, installing windows and using spray foam. Today we get to check one of those items off of our to do list: spray foam.
So this insulation business is taking more time than anticipated but that’s now all builds go. More time, more money.
While Dan and I are busy with the van build, the girls are creating daily checklists for themselves to make sure all their schooling gets completed. Language arts, math, ancient history, art and exercise. Those are their current five subjects. So when we mentioned to the girls that we needed to run to Home Depot in the morning, they quickly put their shoes on and mentioned something about getting to check exercise off their lists. Once we go to the store, the exercise comment made much more sense to me. Sorry contractor dudes in the store, running on polished concrete floors was their PE class today.
Today we had our sights set on removing all the wall and door paneling from inside the van. There were a few hex bolts to remove and a ton of little plastic clips again but luckily today no clips broke. It’s like we are professionals all of a sudden. Not.
Our goal with this van project is to document the entire build via this blog in addition creating videos on YouTube and photos & short video clips on Instagram. Oh and secret sneak peeks on Patreon too. So here we go…
Soooooo….. got some big news. We sold our current set up and bought a new adventuremobile! Say hello to our 2017 Sprinter 170 crew 4×4 van!!
