This morning we took some time to do some spring cleaning. All the fabric off of the dinette and gaucho seating were taken off and are being washed in the outdoor laundry room at the campground. Even though we have light color fabric, the fabric doesn’t stain too much due to being made from outdoor sunbrella fabric. And why did we pick today to do some spring cleaning? Well, we *might* be on television in a few days. More on that to come…

Since we are in a slightly bigger town now, compared to the tiny ones in the lower and middle keys, we were off to find some lunch. We were recommended a sushi place in town but they were closed at lunch on Saturdays. But there was a Cuban juice place a few doors down that looked promising.

And man oh man was the sandwich good. I got a Cuban club and it was delicious. The bread!! So good. And fresh mango and pineapple juice too. The kids were happy with their pizzas too.

Today we declared the rest of the day as beach day. There are two different beaches here at John Pennekamp. The girls chose the beach closest to the visitor’s center since it looked to be the least seaweed infested.

Will today finally be the day that Ava is brave enough to swim to the bright blue sea?

IMG_1858

YES!!! At least for a couple short laps. Go Ava, go!!

I was so proud of my almost 6 year old. She did it! Finally.

Ava convinced her daddy to take her a little bit deeper for some snorkling. And when that happened, she spotted a fish and climbed up Dan’s leg and held on for dear life. Haha. It reminded us of that time in Balmorhea State Park.

Mila didn’t even try her luck in the ocean. She is happy just playing with sand.

And Luka is happy hanging out on the beach blanket, occasionally grabbing some sand but thankfully not shoving any into his mouth. But it’s all a matter of time before he gets a mouthful of sand.

He loves being a little airplane courtesy of his daddy. Close your mouth Dan!! Or you might get a mouth full of drool 🙂

Back in the Airstream, the cushions were clean and it was time for some art time before we hit the sack. The girls both wanted to draw the fishes that they saw during the day.

And Ava drew that one “scary” fish that made her climb up her daddy’s leg. She even called it a fruit fish. Hmmmm, doesn’t look to scary to me.

the end,
