Chattanooga well exceeded all of our expectations and we were kind of sad to leave so soon but there is much more of Tennessee we plan to see. We packed up and hit the road this morning headed towards our next destination, Nashville. Just up the Tennessee river.

Our drive from Pigeon Forge to Chattanooga landed us here late in the evening in need of a place to park for the night. Chattanooga being near the Georgia border, we actually crossed back into Georgia and found a BP truck stop with room for us to crash.
Today is the end of our 4 day stay here at beautiful Asheville, North Carolina. After we left Charleston, SC, we had originally planned to head along the coast into North Carolina’s outer banks. Even though I am already feeling a tinge of regret for not making it there, we are glad we came to Asheville. Even the family of ducks came to say goodbye to Ava before we left.
It is no secret that we do a lot of eating on this trip. If anything is going to make us end the trip, it is going to be that one day, we will get back from yet another delicious local restaurant and not be able to fit through the doors of the Airstream. Until that days comes, we will keep the sampling of local cuisines on our itinerary.

After spending a good part of a day in town yesterday, we decided we would stay at the campground and just hangout and relax here. It is sometimes a difficult decision to make to not do any sightseeing because you are constantly nagged with the feeling that you are missing out on something. We figured since we are staying 2 more days here than we originally anticipated, we can afford to take things slow.
Oh little Mila. Our little sad goose with an earache. Not even big sister hugs can make her feel better today. Poor thing. And she refuses to sleep in the Airstream. So you know what that means, naps in the car and baby carrier today.
Last night getting to Asheville, North Carolina was another late one. Google Maps let us down again and took us to a Walmart that was not there. Running low on fuel and driving in the windy and narrow roads of the Great Smoky Mountains looking for an alternate boondocking place caused just a little bit of anxiety for Marlene.
We woke up in the morning and got a real sense about what the Great Smokies are all about. The fog sure makes everything a little blurry. Or maybe that’s just our camera..
This morning we left our campground in Charleston, South Carolina to make our way north. And Ava left the campground in tears because she started to miss our doggy neighbor before we even had to say good-bye to him. On top of having a crying kid in the car, we also had a trash bag full of stuff we needed to donate. As we drove into the capital of South Carolina for the day, we quickly found a thrift store to drop off our crying kid old clothes and household items. Ahhhhhh! It feels so good to be reorganized again. But I doubt it will last long.
We decided to stay two nights at Oak Plantation RV Park so that means we have a full day today to meander around Charleston. Before we headed into town however, we drove across street from the campground to finally eat at a Waffle House.
