From Superior, Wisconsin, we quickly made our way into Michigan. The upper peninsula, or the ‘Yoo-Pee’, is where we will be exploring for awhile. We’ve only been to the lower peninsula of Michigan and loved it so this is a very exciting place for us to visit on this trip.
We left the Works family as we headed north into Montana along Interstate 15 heading towards Butte. As we did some research, we found that there was yet another awesome ghost town near the town of Dillon that seemed like a must see. As we are suckers for ghost towns, we could not pass it up.
On our way out of Oregon, we tried long and hard to figure out how we can make it out to Hell’s Canyon National Recreation Area in Idaho without adding a ton of miles to our travels. After a lot of research, we decided that it was not meant to be this time around. We found questionable cell reception at the campgrounds and the trip would likely have added several days to our visit. After all, we are not on vacation, this is our real day-to-day life and sacrifices are the norm.
As we left John Day, Oregon, we headed west towards Bend, Oregon. Our plan is to spend a little time in Portland as I fly back to Santa Barbara for a couple of days of work. Between here and there, we have a few stops along the way.
