Our 4 nights at Fort Wilderness includes 2 days at Magic Kingdom. Actually we can go to any of the other parks but with our kids age, Magic Kingdom is the only way to go. For those of you out there with 2 girls under the age of 6, you know what I mean. There is no coming to Disney World and not getting to take photos with the princesses. Oh yeah, and it happens to be Marlene’s birthday.
The site we got at Anastasia State Park was beautiful. We would have stayed here longer if it wasn’t for our reservations tomorrow at Fort Wilderness and if Anastasia wasn’t already booked solid. We decided that we would head down to Orlando later this evening and boondock somewhere so we can try to get an early checkin at Fort Wilderness.
Last night we met up with an Airstreamer whom we have been friends with online for some time. Casey and his family live just a bit north of here in St. Simon Island, Georgia. We have been talking about meeting up when we made our way out here and he was able to make it out to Huguenot with us for a couple of nights as he pulled in after dark with his beautifully polished 34 foot Airstream Limited.
Our stay at Skidaway Island State Park came to an end this morning as we packed up to head further south into Florida. Our second time here at this park was just as great of an experience as the first. Let’s hope that there will be many more visits here in the future.
Since we got lucky with a last minute reservations at Fort Wilderness in Disney World, our time in Savannah is unfortunately cut short to just 4 days. That might sound like a decent amount of time to be in a city, and it usually is, but we love Savannah so much that we originally planned on being here for at least a week. Well, what are you gonna do? You win some and you lose some. I doubt anyone will be sympathetic for us for having to leave Savannah because we have to go to Disney World.
Last night we had a visit from the tooth fairy for Ava’s first tooth. She made a special request to see if she would leave her tooth. When we woke up this morning, her tooth was still there in the mini treasure box, there was a gold dollar and a special note from the tooth fairy.
We woke up on our last morning here in Charleston and got ready to head south to Marlene’s favorite city in the entire country. That of course is the beautiful hostess city of the south, Savannah, Georgia. The drive to Savannah takes about two hours and is typically pretty uneventful. Read more…
This morning the girls received some very good news. We are heading down to Savannah tomorrow after our stay here in Charleston. Although Savannah is Marlene’s favorite city from our last trip, that is not the news that got Ava so excited. This morning, we officially reserved 4 nights at Fort Wilderness in Walt Disney World and booked our tickets for the Magic Kingdom.
James Island County Park in Charleston is a great place to be for Thanksgiving. We did not know about it 2 years ago when we came through here and ended up staying a little further out at Oak Plantation RV Park. James Island is a little more expensive but it sits on a ton of land with very nice facilities right across a bridge from Charleston.
We stayed a few miles north of Columbia, South Carolina at a Walmart when we drove down last night from Tryon. We are headed to Charleston but we decided that Columbia would be a good place for Luka to get his 6-month immunizations.
Tryon, North Carolina is a quaint little town right on the border of North and South Carolina. There are a dozen little towns like this all over the area and today, we are going to visit some of them with Frank and Debbie.
