A shipwreck in Peloponnese, Greece.

As we continued our journey around the Peloponnese, Greece, we knew for sure that we wanted to camp near a shipwreck we heard about. And as luck would have it, we found an open spot near the sea and a double rainbow as well.

Until recent years many villages on the Mani peninsula of the Peloponnese were inaccessible except by boat because of the mountainous terrain. Just outside the city of Gytheio, MV Dimitrios has been slowly returning itself back into the sea since the 1980s. The true story of how it got here is not exactly known. Some say it was left adrift from the port of Gytheios when the cigarette smuggling owners abandoned it and washed up here. Other stories of it being a mystery ghost ship also floats around on the interwebs. Regardless how it got here, it has now become a tourist attraction in the Laconian Gulf.

There’s a pool of water here and a million teeny frogs too.

Kids have been busy collecting and releasing them again.

We actually finally found other traveling families while camping here. After all this time heading south, we finally caught up with some. Ha. Nice for the kids to have some other kids to run around with while we are here.

Couldn’t ask for a better view.

Random puppies like to hang out with us. We don’t mind one bit.

How do we do laundry on the road? Well, I wrote a blog post over on our educational channel all how we live full-time on the road. This time it was a hand washing day. There was a leaky water spigot near the frogs that we used to do a load or two.

Sometimes it doesn’t dry outside so we move it indoors for the night.

Luka collected rocks and sticks all day to make the perfect campfire just his size.

And at sunset, he got to light it.

Looks like he has a fireball in his hand.

Before we left this awesome spot, we had a black cat visit us which always brings a smile to our faces.
