We rushed to Athens from Turkey because we had 2 weeks planned with our friends visiting from the US in Paris. We made good time and got to spend a couple of extra days before the flight and lucked out with warm temps and fewer crowds. But after spending time in the city, we needed to decompress before our flights and parked up at Varkiza Beach just outside the city for a couple nights.
As soon as we park, we like to explore our immediate surroundings to a feel for the place we’ll call home for a short bit.
It’s poppy season.
The beautiful Aegean Sea.
Our friends Hariventures are also here with us.
What!?! Is!?! This!?!
Surfing in Greece! So awesome!!
“I know what I’m doing tomorrow!” – Ava.
Morning roadschool sometimes looks like this.
You know what’s perfect for sandy beach days? Our Roadshower.
Pressuring the Roadshower with our Viair portable air compressor.
It felt so good at the beach and we got to finally bring down the surfboards that have been traveling with us on the roof of the van. The water was still a bit frigid so shorty wetsuits helped us get into water and paddle into a few unexpected Mediterranean ankle-slapping waves.
Dan and Ava going out together.
Mila had enough of swimming.
Luka too.
Ava caught one wave on her knees and a second one on her feet.
You see her in action in the video at the end of this post.
Roadschower time!!!
And then we were off to figure out where to store the van while we fly out to Paris.
Stopped to get some groceries and found a pig farm next door.
We ended up a gated long term airport parking lot called Zepplin Parking. It had someone living on the lot full-time in a house with outdoor dogs and puppies.
Oh my heart.
We had a good feeling about leaving our precious home here while we are gone.
And where do the puppies sleep? Under the olive trees.
Here is a little video I put together for Instagram. I will insert Dan’s video here when it’s ready.
Thanks for following along,
Marlene
