Now that the adult bed platform is complete, we can start building out the side cabinets that will help support the kids bunk area.
Dan started the day by taping our favorite horse pencil to a piece of wood to help cut the right angles.
Look! It worked.
I started the day sanding the bed platform some more because it almost snagged my favorite yoga pants. Lol.
And back to Home Depot we go. We accidentally bought red oak instead of birch because of incorrect placement in the birch pile. Argh.
These are the three main pieces of the side cabinets.
Test fitting and cutting holes and notches.
And adding back wood panels to help with the structure and to not lose crap down a black hole.
Cutting holes in the cabinets for storage.
This phase involves a lot of staring. A little too much actually since it is such a custom piece that requires us to think thru the steps.
Had to add some wooden spacers between the window and the wall for rigidity.
What do I hear?
STOP HERE! STOP HERE! CAN YOU SEE ME?!?!
Oh yeah.
Choices.
That was unexpected. What was even more unexpected is that three soft serves cost over $10. Ouch.
But look at those smiles.
And look at the sugar high kicking in.
Hehe.
Ok. That’s all for now. Hopefully things will progress faster tomorrow.
Here’s the video to go along with days 19 and 20 of the build. Enjoy!
As always, thanks for following along,
Marlene
