We came to Coos Bay last night and stayed in the parking lot of the Mills Casino. They actually have a full hookup RV Park but we did not think we would stay more than the night so we just parked in their RV lot of free.

Day 8: Coos Bay to Jessie Honeyman State Park.

It was overcast and dreary just as we have been told about the Oregon coast. We woke up and got ready in the morning and headed out to hopefully find our first legitimate campground on this trip.

Before that, we had to find lunch. We had been told about a place called the Black Market Gourmet but it was closed. We settled for a pizza place down the street that also has an indoor playground for the kids.

We were the only people here on this Monday and they let the kids play in their playground for free instead of paying the standard fee. The food was good and they had free wifi so we decided to stay awhile.

All of the playing got Ava a little thirsty so she drank her water with 3 straws at the same time.

Of course Mila has to copy her big sister. Except this time she upped the ante with 4 straws.

As we headed up the coast to look for our next stop, we drove by mill after mill. Around here, this is the predominant industry. As a matter of fact, most of the lumber is actually being shipped to Japan.

After 45 miles up the road, we came to Florence, Oregon and got ourselves a spot at Jessie Honeyman State Park.

The park was nearly full and we were lucky to find a spot just for one night.

By now the sun had burned through the fog and we are really starting to enjoy the Oregon coast.

I wish we could stay here longer but I am also looking forward to continue to explore the Oregon coast in the days to come.
