It is really hard to tell when pets gets sick. For us, we really have to be in tune with behavioral changes. Five years ago, when we finally realized that our dog Rudy was sick with pancreatic cancer, it was too late to help her. Our animals are so good at hiding their illnesses, a little too good. Sure it helps them when they are in the wild, but the days of being in the wild for these domestic creatures are long gone. 11 days ago, we took our cat Yoda into the local vet to get pumped up with antibiotics for her bladder infection. The reason we took her into the vet is because she was acting strange, avoiding her normal routines. 11 days later she is feeling a little better. Today she even tolerated a nap on our bed with Luka. Hopefully she will be back to her old self in no time.
Our 8 month old, Luka, is having a little bit of a rough patch too. Those pesky teeth are giving him trouble again. Within a blink of an eye, he will go from giggling to screaming his head off. Medicine is not working too well for him so he is requesting a lot of mama snuggle time.
Luckily for us, he gets distracted from his pain easily. The girls do a fantastic job keeping him entertained. Now that he can crawl, we have to be really careful with what is on the floor. So the baby toys stay out, as well as the books, but all other princess related items need to stay on the couch.
Another great distraction from his teething pain is bath time. We started this adventure when he was only 3 months old. We used a baby tub for him that sits in our shower. Last month he outgrew the tub and now sits on the shower floor for his bath. The shower has a 3 inch lip that holds enough water for him to splash in. But today was a special treat. A bath in the kitchen sink! Haha.
During our daily afternoon walk, Ava decided that she wanted to try to snorkel with her daddy. The seaweed was a little too intimidating for her so that plan was scrapped pretty quickly. One of the reasons we are on this journey with the children is that we want to instill adventure in their lives. To try things at least once with open arms. Thanks A LOT, seaweed!
Besides his love for splashing in the tub and the ocean, Luka really loves playing with sand. Thankfully he hasn’t figured out how to shove in his mouth just yet. And yes, he will be getting another sink bath after this romp on the beach.
I think we pushed this one past her nap limit. Airstream living on the beach is tough work, people. Tough. Work.
the end,
marlene
