One of the great things about traveling by road is all of the great hidden gems you come across. We try really hard to avoid chain restaurants if we possibly can so we can find great eateries like Jakes’s Pizza in La Quinta, CA.

Jake’s Pizza is in a strip strip mall right off of Highway 111 in the little town of La Quinta, CA. It’s on the side and all the way in the back so unless you know it is there, you are not likely to find it. When I saw this little hole in the wall pizza joint, I thought to myself, if this place managed to stay in business in this location, it HAS to be good. And I was right.

The amazing thing about a good pizza is you can never pin point what is so good about it. I couldn’t tell if it was the cheese, sauce or dough that made us gobble this pie down in no time flat. I suppose if you can narrow down on what is the best part of the pizza, that usually means the other components are not quite up to par. Not Jake’s, everything that came on this piece of wax paper oozed deliciousness.

What’s better than a good slice of pizza? A good slice of pizza with a nice cold glass of beer. What’s better than a nice cold glass of beer? A nice cold pitcher of beer. What’s better than a nice cold pitcher of beer? One that is only $6 a pitcher. That’s right. Everyday except for Sunday, Jake’s is serving up pitchers of beer during dinner time for this ridiculously low price.

It's not yucky. It's beautiful. Eat it, Dada. Eat it.

Thanks Ava, six dollars have never tasted sooo goood!
