Hello there. Day #2 of the Families on the Road (FOTR) West Coast Rally was our first full day at the Newport Dunes RV Resort down in Newport Beach, California. Here we are ‘camping’ in a fancy RV Resort with the Back Bay as our front yard. It’s rough life, I tell ya!
That morning, while Dan had some work to do, Ava and I took a short walk to the playground and picked up shells on our way there.
The playground area was steps from the beach and had a wooden ship with slides…
Since it was a rally for families on the road, they had tons of activities for the kids all weekend long. Over the course of the weekend, each family took turns hosting an art or hobby at their site. Ava got to paint seashells…
She was proud of those two shells all day long.
There were well over 30 kids at the rally. All the kids got heart necklaces instead of name tags and were separated by age group. Here is Ava playing some type of African drum that I can’t remember the name of.
She was a little shy at first but couldn’t resist the drum.
She also got the chance to build sand castles with her Dada. Her favorite part was putting a flag atop each tower.
What is going on here? Well, that’s Kati from TLC’s Six for the Road…
… and that’s Ava getting her very first face painting! She wasn’t too sure of what was happening at first. But once she found out it was going to be a butterfly, she couldn’t stop talking about it all night long.
And what is going on here? Besides Ava talking about her butterfly, of course…
A limbo contest! And we totally cheated. And I am 100% okay with it.
At night, the rally hosted a campfire but Ava and I were way too tired to participate since it was almost our bedtime. Instead, Ava enjoyed playing with her toys in the Airstream. We have a mixture of old toys and new toys in there. Here she is playing a match game with her Dada.
Stay tuned for FOTR West Coast Rally: Day #3.
the end,
marlene
