Day 150: Moving across Curry Hammock.
Ever since we got to the keys, every time we change sites we are progressively moving further and further away from the water. We started at Bahia Honda where we were so close to the water, Marlene often felt like we were floating away to sea when she glanced up at our wraparound windows by the dinette.

Day 149: Taking a bath in the sink.
It is really hard to tell when pets gets sick. For us, we really have to be in tune with behavioral changes. Five years ago, when we finally realized that our dog Rudy was sick with pancreatic cancer, it was too late to help her. Our animals are so good at hiding their illnesses, a little too good. Sure it helps them when they are in the wild, but the days of being in the wild for these domestic creatures are long gone. 11 days ago, we took our cat Yoda into the local vet to get pumped up with antibiotics for her bladder infection. The reason we took her into the vet is because she was acting strange, avoiding her normal routines. 11 days later she is feeling a little better. Today she even tolerated a nap on our bed with Luka. Hopefully she will be back to her old self in no time.

Day 148: More of the same for another week.
When I told Marlene that I wanted to spend 4 weeks in the keys, she looked at me as if I was nuts. Our last visit to Florida, we spent an entire month in the state meandering along its entire coast line. To think that we are going to spend the same amount of time but only in these little islands south of Miami, she thought we would for sure be sick of it before too long.

Day 147: Curry Hammock State Park.
Today is our first full day at Curry Hammock. On the agenda today is pretty much nothing. With all this pesky sand in the Florida Keys, our toes are not looking very lady like. Luckily it was an easy problem to remedy. Red for Ava. Pink sparkles for Mila.

Day 146: Leaving Long Key for Curry Hammock.
We would have preferred to stay longer at Long Key but our site is being taken over by an incoming camp host today. That means our stay will be cut short at 11 days instead of the 14 days that is allowed at maximum. As of a few days ago, we had 4 days between our stay here and Curry Hammock that is unaccounted for reservation-wise. Luckily for us, a cancellation popped up over there and we were able to grab yet another last minute reservation at one of the 4 very coveted state park campgrounds here in the keys.

Day 145: Christmas morning in the Keys.
Don’t ask me how but Santa did manage to get into our Airstream on Christmas Eve and left a few packages just inside the door. The girls woke up and noticed that the brownie and milk have also been eaten and apparently the reindeers only ate half of the carrot we left out. I am guessing Santa had a lot more places to visit and didn’t want them cramping up.

Day 144: Christmas Eve in the Keys.
Christmas isn’t typically associated with coconuts and beaches. But that is exactly why we are here this year. We are spending an unique Christmas near the end of a very unique year in all of our lives.

Day 143: Last minute Christmas shopping.
Since tomorrow is Christmas Eve day, we have one last chance to go to town and stock up on everything we need for Christmas. While we were harvesting coconuts yesterday, one of the kids accidentally broke the neighbors water hose so we are also here to buy them a replacement.

Day 142: Meeting new friend from Naples.
Not only is Luka now crawling, he is also pulling himself up on a regular basis. When the girls wake up in the morning, he loves to stand up on their bed and look out the window at our neighbors to see if there is anyone new.

Day 141: Lunch in Marathon and a visit to Curry Hammock.
Bill the mobile RV repair guy came by this morning to check out our battery charger problem. Luckily for us, we were able to use everything except for the inverter all day yesterday. Only when something is plugged into the inverter does the battery voltage start to drop.

Day 140: A walk through the tropical hammock.
Tropical hammocks are unique hardwood, broad-leafed evergreen forests that are only found in South Florida and the Keys. No, this is not a tropical hammock. This is the kind of shenanigans that happen in the Mish each morning when the kids wake up.
