After taking the evacuation ferry from Morocco to France, we started to drive towards Croatia. On the first night, we tried to cross into Germany but got turned away because the border we chose was for Germans only.

The border guard told us we’d have to try a northern border but it was already dark so we decided to wild camp in France for the night and deal with borders in the morning.

The recommended border was not open and only allowed a certain number of vehicles to pass which looks like they already exceeded for the day… so we continued north to try another border crossing.

Three times was a charm! Now in Germany, we stopped by a Lidl to stock on food. Once we get to Croatia, we will NOT be allowed to leave our home for 14 days.

Peppa ice cream was surprisingly delicious.

On the second night, we slept at a gas station just shy of the German-Austrian border. Icy grass van shadow.

We did it!!!

11 days ago, we made the decision to leave Morocco for Croatia. Between then and now, we’ve driven 2,000 miles, talked to the Croatian embassy daily, camped in an isolation camp, left one continent for another, boarded an evacuation ferry for France, crossed 5 borders and used a ton of hand sanitizer.

Now we are settled in my parents’ apartment for a mandatory 14-day quarantine. No stepping outside until then.

Thanks again for the love and support, friends. Stay safe and well. ❤️
