On one of our mornings at our wild camping spot in Göreme, Cappadocia, Turkey, we woke up to neighbors who also cleared the sharp decline to this spot on the cliff.
We got to chatting and immediately hit it off. They are a Romanian family that built out their fire truck Mercedes truck to travel the world and call themselves Baraka_Travels.
It was a short but sweet time together and we hope to cross paths with them in the future. Safe travels, friends.
Quick drawing session once again before we move spots today.
Headed back to the town of Goreme to try some traditional Turkish foods.
And of course, to enjoy some Turkish coffee after our delicious meal.
Our next stop was the Rose Valley area of Goreme. It was a bit hard to level our Sprinter van so instead of going up on blocks, Dan and Luka dug a hole for our tires to fall into.
Our van is so camouflaged here.
Time for some watercoloring. If you are interested in art and school supplies that we use to roadschool, I created an Amazon store for those items.
And who do we have here? It’s DORITOS MAN!!!!
Oops. Forget his sword and shield. That’s better.
We are actually here at the new boondocking spot to meet up with new friends Live. Travel.Play. Gregor and Janice travel fulltime in their 1987 VW Westy called Lucky. They drove from Canada to Argentina and are now completing their loop around Europe, Turkey and Morocco.
It was fun to have a night to hang out and exchange stories from the road.
Where are the girls, you ask? Still painting.
Nice job, my little Bob Rosses!
In the morning, before our new friends took off, they offered to take a family photo for us.
You see a family posing by their van. I see a wet rag drying on our door handle because someone missed the toilet and I couldn’t reach the paper towels in time. Oopsie.
Until next time, friends! Safe travels!!
And now it’s our turn to hit the road as well. Today we head west, back towards the European continent.
Here is a video I made for Instagram stories about our day here:
Thanks for following along,
Marlene

lovely recount of your stay, I am looking to pass through the area next month, but i am not very familiar with wild camping yet. May I ask around what area you were, I read that in turkey you aren’t allowed to camp in national/natural parks (which I believe gerome and area is). I could be wrong. I am traveling by motorcycle with a tent.
