Thanks for visiting Mali Mish, an Airstream travel blog. This is where we share our life on the road inside an Airstream travel trailer with anyone and everyone who wishes to know. Mali Mish is Croatian for ‘Little Mouse’. It is the name we have given to our beloved Airstream that takes care of us while we are on the road. We have been proud owners of her since October 2008 and have been on many wonderful and exciting trips. Most trips span a few days to a couple of weeks reaching not too far out from our home base in Ventura, CA.
On February 3rd 2010, we filled up the diesel tank and hitched up our wagon for the trip of our lives. We will be heading east for an indeterminate amount of time without a real destination. All we know is that we are going to see the Atlantic ocean by land and plan to explore and learn about everything we find along the way.
Mali Mish
Mali Mish is our 2007 Airstream International Ocean Breeze 25 foot travel trailer. We found her in southern California when her dealership went out of business and had all of their inventory repossessed. Through the help of another Airstream dealership, we were able to purchase her for a great price while keeping all of the benefits of buying a new trailer from an authorized Airstream dealership. We left her pretty much the way we found her without any modifications. Our 2007 GMC Savana Extended Diesel custom van is the other half of the dynamic duo that keeps us rolling along safely down the road.
Dan is the chauffeur and proud owner of the the only Y chromosome on this trip. He was unanimously voted as the one who will be doing all of the heavy lifting and back breaking chores on the trip. As a reward for the menial labor he endures to keep the girls comfortable, he receives the privilege and honor of also cooking all of the meals for the family from the tidy but comfortable confines of the Airstream galley.
As a self-employed Internet and computer guy, he uses Mali Mish as his mobile office as well as home on the road. He looks forward to sharing the challenges on how working on the go fits into his nomadic lifestyle.
Marlene is born and raised in southern California. After spending her entire life living in the golden state, she is finally hitting the road to see where the rest of America lives.
As the daughter of Croatian immigrants, she is credited for naming our Airstream trailer. Being the official maître d’ of Mali Mish, she rules the roost and keeps everyone inline during our transcontinental road trip.
Addicted to General Hospital on ABC, her top priority, next to the family, is how not to miss the Luke and Laura flash back montages during November sweeps. Oh, and she thinks we are on the road to visit every Anthropologie store in our beautiful nation. Please don’t tell her otherwise.
Ava loves birds, cats, dogs, rainbows and the color pink. She is a self-proclaimed big girl who can do everything by herself. As much as she wishes she can play with her friends back at home, when given the option, she loves being on our camping vacation with Mali Mish.
Some of her favorite things to do while traveling are visiting ghost towns, wearing her cowboy boots and birdwatching with her mama. Whatever you do, do not call her a baby because she is a big girl now.
Mila was born in the Summer of 2009. As a certified mama’s girl, she spends most of her time glued to her mama’s chest via the Ergo baby carrier.
Her favorite things to do on the road are drooling while waiting for her teeth to come in and grabbing at everything within her arms reach… much to the chagrin of her big sister’s hair.
She can’t wait for the day when she can turn her car seat around so she can face forward and see the road ahead.
Yoda the cat is our mascot and loves sitting by one of our many windows in the Airstream as the sun shines through. Being an indoor cat, she has explored every inch of the interior of the Airstream. The irony is not lost in that our cat makes her home inside a trailer called ‘Little Mouse’. Yoda on the other hand is not real amused.
