Little did we know that the tolls in southern Greece were going to be worse than here in the north because we get lumped into the big rig category down south.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"33289807368\" alt=\"Our first few days camping in northern Greece blog\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7830\/33289807368_a37f3ac791_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our camp spot for the night in Io\u00e1nnina, Greece. Just a concrete slab at the edge of a lake. They allow a free nightly stop over if you ask. It&#8217;s a lot next to a campground (that is closed this time of year) that is used by the local rowing club.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47112922442\" alt=\"Our first few days camping in northern Greece blog\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7835\/47112922442_8ef81acc4f_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is totally safe. Now we use it to hand out kibble to stray kitties around Europe.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"40200074633\" alt=\"Our first few days camping in northern Greece blog\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7851\/40200074633_58ffae3cd5_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our second sunset in Greece did not disappoint. It&#8217;s 80% mountains!! So in the morning, we sent them out to pick up as much trash as possible. As they were depositing their trash in the bin, a local beekeeper rewards them with a large jar of his local honey. And then a few minutes after that, the owner of the property we are parked on offers the kids a sincere thank you and hand shake. Remember when I said it&#8217;s 80% mountainous here. Well, we found snow. A lot of it. Wow. Hello, Meteora.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47112926772\" alt=\"Our first few days camping in northern Greece blog\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7874\/47112926772_24d0c88403_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These rock formations are crazy!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47112917642\" alt=\"Our first few days camping in northern Greece blog\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7827\/47112917642_e7823bba39_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Eastern Orthodox monks built monasteries on the top of these majestic rocks in the 14th century.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"46441522554\" alt=\"Our first few days camping in northern Greece blog\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7827\/46441522554_95312cef52_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow we will go check them out. Tonight, we are paying to stay at a campground for some warm showers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47112931592\" alt=\"Our first few days camping in northern Greece blog\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7889\/47112931592_28dd5993f0_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We immediately made new friends today with the first RV we&#8217;ve seen all winter. They invited us over for bean stew and we had a great night together.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47112918242\" alt=\"Our first few days camping in northern Greece blog\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7855\/47112918242_e52e11cea6_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The campground was a bit overpriced at 25 euros a night.
