Hello, Greece!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our Park4Night App failed to get us to a camp spot that felt right in Saranda, Albania. First time that happened but luckily I also had CamperConnect installed and that led us to this hotel that allows campers to park with electric hook-up and bathrooms with showers for pretty cheap.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47097093382\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7905\/47097093382_d8f1da8923_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"32207583847\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7836\/32207583847_8890f472c4_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>As we crept towards the southern edge of Albania, we couldn\u2019t help but to reflect on the stray dog population here. We weren\u2019t bothered as much by the stray cats of Croatia and Montenegro because they seem to be all doing pretty well for the most part. But dogs? They are bred for human companionship. There were a handful of dogs that literally ignored food from us until they got some love and affection first.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"32207459587\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7915\/32207459587_fd7eb6647e_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"46426091774\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7879\/46426091774_ebc7bbf304_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On our way south, we stopped to visit Butrint National Park, <span>one of the largest archaeological parks of the Balkan Peninsula.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47149449281\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7815\/47149449281_9b6a0f3498_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It stood as a Greek colony and a Roman city in ancient times.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"46425959584\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7868\/46425959584_dabf30b7f8_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47149459981\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7839\/47149459981_2ac7b23467_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"46426085874\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7881\/46426085874_1027878673_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Luka was really into leading us to all numbered spots on the park&#8217;s map.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47149398891\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7860\/47149398891_8506e98bc5_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This way, guys!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"32207509647\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7830\/32207509647_7c38f999f5_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>This was once an ancient city that Julius Caesar and Augustus created for their war veterans&#8217; retirement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"32207464417\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7924\/32207464417_1be0003075_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>And now our kids are using it as their playground.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47149447181\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7879\/47149447181_e1dde70843_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Kids said they were doing yoga moves. Funny because I haven\u2019t done yoga in months. See it?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"40184456753\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7918\/40184456753_7c2a7a65e0_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Besides its historical significance, the park protects large numbers of flora and fauna.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"47149447771\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7913\/47149447771_a882bcb272_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We opted to take a manned ferry in order to take the shorter route to the Greek border. It was short but not cheap. 10 euros. Ouch. Felt like a rip for a one minute ride but the prices were posted and that was the going rate for a camper.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"32207513997\" alt=\"Butrint, Albania to Igoumenitsa, Greece.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7852\/32207513997_0de9835145_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the border crossing between Albania and Greece, we were required to drive the van into a garage for inspection. Agents looked all around the van, popped the hood and even had a young drug sniffing German Shepard make a few rounds. Getting into Greece after that was a breeze.
