Thankfully our plan worked.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35433113095\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4289\/35433113095_471a2115b2_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We ended up camping at a small campground called Big Lagoon County Park. It&#8217;s nestled in a grove of Sitka Spruce trees which offers little sunshine for <a href=\"https:\/\/freelyroaming.com\/12-essential-products-for-the-rv-boondocking-pro\/\">our solar panels<\/a> but luckily we also tote around a <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2uzxbRC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Honda EU2000 generator<\/a> just for moments like these.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35393669546\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4214\/35393669546_9b4a36fc47_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34623410303\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4211\/34623410303_f3d6140735_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our smaller set-up was valuable once again and allowed us to pick a site that backs up to a lagoon that is adjacent to the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34623461683\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4211\/34623461683_c91f642f9e_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A short walk from our site (site #6, I believe?) gave the kids the opportunity to explore the slippery beach rocks. By some miracle, I think only one kid slipped. Not sure how they all didn&#8217;t go down like dominos.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35266758152\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4265\/35266758152_9a3722680c_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34623526743\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4213\/34623526743_a544b5b724_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35393626226\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4210\/35393626226_f895a7ec01_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We are still toting around these mother&#8217;s day plants that the kids made me. It&#8217;s fun to see photos from his eyes and see how the girls react to him.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35046370550\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4273\/35046370550_48ac0daa4d_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35303653291\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4272\/35303653291_02eefb4fd5_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The large sitka spruces offer plenty of tree climbing opportunities while we are camped here&#8230; and plenty of sap all over their jackets that I haven&#8217;t been able to get out too.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35433290405\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4262\/35433290405_129a32e5c4_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35393602356\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4195\/35393602356_c37b081286_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our friends, Tori and Skyler, were able to snag a spot large enough for their 31ft Airstream here.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35433225745\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4214\/35433225745_b111e981c1_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been nice having neighbors to hang out with it while camping and out on adventures.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35046249820\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4279\/35046249820_5895b0f799_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A short bike ride from the campground leads us to the day use area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34623429523\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4286\/34623429523_a7441aeeec_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s so nice to have bikes again, especially with semi-paved roads. In theory, Dan and I could run for some exercise while the kids ride with us. It&#8217;s so easy to take your home state for granted. Redwoods, we are finally here!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35393744066\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4205\/35393744066_7fe7e4d3b7_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After work and school, we took a quick hike through the Lady Bird loop at the Redwoods National Park.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35266805342\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4224\/35266805342_623082dc96_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/freelyroaming.com\/small-home-big-backyard-now-what-do-i-do-with-my-kids\/\">With Junior Ranger books in hand, the kids were back to earning badges again<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35266707612\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4217\/35266707612_d1168fc8f5_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And Dan is feeling better so the VLOGs are being made again.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34591285864\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4261\/34591285864_475e3da341_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yippee! Not sure what the story is here but wildlife always brings smiles to our faces.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35303671571\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4239\/35303671571_da4b668bd5_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34591472014\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4250\/34591472014_28506737da_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once we finished out the work week, we hitched up and headed into the park again for some more exploring and to turn in those completed junior ranger booklets.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35303500531\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4255\/35303500531_b3bdca6e14_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34623408573\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4256\/34623408573_beb78aaae1_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Luka hamming it up for Dan.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35303558231\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4204\/35303558231_887af56e22_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And that makes this badge #113. A memorable one too because the ranger actually took her time to make sure Luka could keep up with the pledge. I love the way Mila is looking at him.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"35433219475\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4245\/35433219475_476db126ed_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A lot of the roads here don&#8217;t allow trailers but that&#8217;s okay. The roads that do allow them are pretty nice.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34623501333\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4273\/34623501333_d73fbaed61_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"34591213234\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4202\/34591213234_6e77a2f6e9_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blog Redwood National Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Walking amongst 2,000-year-old giants. Found it lodged in his back and I literally cried trying to pull it out of him. The head stayed in and the body of the tick got sent for free testing via a lab I found online. Lucky for him, it came back negative for Lyme disease.
