So… where did we leave off? Oh yeah.\u00a0We ended up following a tow truck, that was helping out\u00a0the Wandrly crew, south a few hours to a town called Guerrero Negro. Finding a hotel in the middle of the night was a bit of a fiasco but they eventually found one open and settled into a spacious two-story suite for only 35 bucks a night. Score for them. We ended up popping up the truck camper in the parking lot of the hotel for the night for free. Score for us too.<\/p>\n

We eventually headed into actual campground named Malarrimo. Our buddies Tim and Kerri were already their for the work week and found a spot near them. But not too close. Kids can be loud. But their barking dogs are louder \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The kids immediately settled into the campsite. Luka busted out his mini hammer and a little nail and started to “fix” everything that needed fixing.<\/p>\n

The girls opted for a bag of Barbie dolls and accessories.<\/p>\n

\"Blog<\/p>\n

But it’s not all play time on the road. We balance\u00a0what we learn on our daily adventures with a stack of workbooks. For the past few years, I have been homeschooling the kids under a charter school in our old hometown of Ventura. Because of some new rules they were going to insist on enforcing, I decided to declare myself as a private school in California instead. I just had to fill out a form online and that was it. Not having access to free materials is one of the downsides of venturing out of my own, but I found a decent amount of workbooks at a Barnes and Noble a few months ago that are working out just fine and didn’t cost an arm and a leg either. I applied for a teacher discount so that gives me an extra 20% off of all books when I need to buy more.<\/p>\n

Since we are most likely not going to find anymore books we need in English during our international travels, we also rely on the public library systems back in the US. We have library cards,\u00a0both in Ventura and Los Angeles, that allow us to check out books onto our kindles.<\/p>\n

\"Blog<\/p>\n

While the girls do school, Luka tries\u00a0to occupy himself. Sometimes he wants to write letters and make turkey hands but most of the time he wants to do this.<\/p>\n

And that is just fine with me. Play your little heart out, little one.<\/p>\n

\"Blog<\/p>\n

The Wandrly crew<\/a> ended up finding a mechanic in town that fixed them up and they came purring like a kitty cat\u00a0into the same campground as us. Feels good to be back together again.<\/p>\n

Luka loves hanging out with their oldest boy, Tristan. Here he is learning shapes with their crew.<\/p>\n

Since the weather has been nice, we like to set up dinner outside on our foldable table.<\/p>\n

\"Blog<\/p>\n

Especially during messy spaghetti nights.<\/p>\n

Even though we say we are going to eat in more, we getting sucked out into restaurants usually once a day. We love experiencing the local flavors anywhere we go. And here in Baja, the prices are way more\u00a0affordable and the food is soooo good, we sometimes eat out twice a day.<\/p>\n

Fish tacos with cabbage, guacamole salsa and crema. Perfection.<\/p>\n

\"Blog<\/p>\n

The kids are down for fish tacos or shrimp tacos too.<\/p>\n

In the US, we never buy the kids drinks with meals. Three waters, please! But here in Mexico, they are getting treats most of the time we go out since tap water is a no go.<\/p>\n

Before we head out to adventure for the weekend, this kid is overdue for a haircut. There happened to be a salon across the street that opens at 1 pm so we showed up at 1 pm sharp. But you know what? We are on Baja time and opening at 1 pm usually means opening sometime between 1 pm and 2 pm. So instead of getting his treat after his haircut, he got one before it.<\/p>\n

And if one kid gets a treat, they all do. He better not cry for a treat after his haircut too.<\/p>\n
