And as luck would have it, we found an open spot near the sea and a double rainbow as well.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"46883843484\" alt=\"Peloponnese, Greece blog 2 shipwreck\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7915\/46883843484_ddde4e0b6e_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Until recent years many villages on the Mani peninsula of the Peloponnese were inaccessible except by boat because of the mountainous terrain. Just outside the city of Gytheio, MV Dimitrios has been slowly returning itself back into the sea since the 1980s. The true story of how it got here is not exactly known. Some say it was left adrift from the port of Gytheios when the cigarette smuggling owners abandoned it and washed up here. Other stories of it being a mystery ghost ship also floats around on the interwebs. After all this time heading south, we finally caught up with some. Ha. This time it was a hand washing day.
