Now there are 300 vans here during the peak of winter. Most of them French retirees. The government allows the villagers to operate here and charge campers 1.5 euros per night with no services but a 10 meter well with water only good enough for washing. But because of all the campers here, vendors that come by each day to sell bread, argan oil, honey, laundry services and even home cooked meals don\u2019t need to be pushy like we\u2019ve experience in other places. Everyone wins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680119068\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680119068_8bb8efd228_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We parked next to a little cluster of palm trees that would provide some extra shade and the perfect place to hang our hammocks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680652016\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680652016_404229f5f4_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s quiet warm during the middle of day, some refreshing fruit salad was in order.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680118998\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680118998_4e3909cbe6_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And supposedly a magic show as well. Haha. Thanks, Luka.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680651801\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680651801_ae3638d586_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Having access to water, even if it&#8217;s not potable, is a treat when you are wild camping (boondocking). We used it for washing dishes, doing laundry and showering.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680650856\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680650856_7af4c9ffd5_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is our set-up when it&#8217;s not too windy outside.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680942462\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680942462_ccff2c34ac_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/malimish.com\/gear\/road-shower-4\/\">Roadshower<\/a> is full of drinking water and we don&#8217;t want to waste that for washing while camping in spots like this, so a <a href=\"https:\/\/malimish.com\/gear\/freegrace-collapsible-bucket\/\">collapsible bucket<\/a> full of non-potable well water it is. <a href=\"https:\/\/freelyroaming.com\/how-to-shower-on-the-road\/\">One of the ways we shower on the road<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680650996\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680650996_d52ec6984f_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This camp spot was good for our kids. Plenty of room between campers and rocks to scramble onto. Snuggles are worth itchy eyes and a runny nose.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680646296\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680646296_ff94e4a867_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Luka has been under the weather here in Tafaroute with a stomach bug and fever. Actually he&#8217;s been fighting something off and on while we&#8217;ve been in Morocco. It started back at the <a href=\"https:\/\/malimish.com\/blog\/2020\/02\/28\/middle-atlas-mountains-with-barbary-macaques\/\">Cedar Forest when we stopped to see the monkeys<\/a> and came back again. Ava felt under the weather for bit too. Dan and I felt strangely tired during our stay at this spot as well. We attributed it to the heat but thinking back, could it have been the coronavirus? We have no idea. It was here that news of the virus was getting more real and we started to social distance ourselves from others.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680936932\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680936932_11b53c3e06_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lots of movies in the bunk for out little guy as he recovered.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680936242\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680936242_c6a3f5097f_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>All three kids sleep on the upstairs bunk, north to south. Thinking long term, when they outgrow the space, , we\u2019ve thought about creating an extra bed over the factory bench seat for one of the kids.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680937197\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680937197_fd9dc1bea8_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Who will volunteer to sleep on their very own bed in the future? Not sure. They all think it\u2019s a horrible idea because sleeping without someone on your side sounds unimaginable at the moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49680936532\" alt=\"Camping in Tafraout, Morocco, Africa.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49680936532_5fa9ac2c61_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thought there was a stray puppy visiting us. Yes. Dan made it work by turning them in brownie pancakes. Muddy paws.
