It is the oldest and largest national park in Croatia, founded in 1949.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49151813107\" alt=\"Plitvice National Park, Croatia. Off-season misty fall autumn blog.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49151813107_aae6c67439_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We were here in mid-November with daytime temps in the 40s and a layer of fog that didn&#8217;t let up all day. So thick jackets and real shoes for all instead of our usual hiking gear of flip flops.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49151606666\" alt=\"Plitvice National Park, Croatia. Off-season misty fall autumn blog.\" src=\"https:\/\/farm66.static.flickr.com\/65535\/49151606666_4b4d117654_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Parking was free in the off-season and the lots were almost empty. Entrance fees were reduced to 60 kuna ($8.89) an adult and 30 kuna ($4.44) for kids 7 to 18 years of age.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49151113988\" alt=\"Plitvice National Park, Croatia. Thankfully it clears up a lot once we get closer to the lakes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49151109488\" alt=\"Plitvice National Park, Croatia. The visible sixteen lakes appear due to confluences of small rivers and have natural travertine dams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49151603161\" alt=\"Plitvice National Park, Croatia. Such a different experience 11 years later here in the off season. Falling leaves, bare trees, thick fog, cold temps and only a few handfuls of people around.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"49151601821\" alt=\"Plitvice National Park, Croatia.
