Day 151: New Year’s Eve in the Keys.

by marlene on January 5th, 2013

Today is New Year’s Eve and Yoda is already passed out drunk. What a lightweight! So what did we do? Since we can’t write all over her with permanent marker or stick her hand in warm water, we decided to pile stuff on top of her like that one website.

Day 151: New year's eve in the keys.

And when she didn’t wake up from all of our giggling, we pulled out the big guns… Princess Ariel. I have a feeling she is going to totally get us back for this.

Some people mention that they feel sorry for Luka when they hear we are living on the road in a trailer. They think he is not going to properly learn how to crawl or walk because he does not enough “space”. So for those people who feel sorry for him, Luka has this crawling thing down pretty good. No need to worry. He is also pulling himself up now. Not bad for a 8 month old baby boy with no “space”.

And now that he can crawl, he can also spy on his big sisters who are outside with their art supplies. If you look closely at Ava’s artwork you will notice that she tried to spell “google”. Oh, how times have changed. I guess she pays attention to my internet searches while looking up information for homeschool.

The kids are really enjoying the close proximity of the playground. As soon the morning rituals are complete, they are begging to go on the swings.

Since we have slowed down our daily sight-seeing, he is getting less time in the Ergobaby carrier. So Luka was happy to have some mama snuggle time.

The wind really picked up today. The kite surfers were out in full force at the beach so we stayed away from the beach for the kids’ safety.

Day 151: New year's eve in the keys.

Our last night of 2012 was spent in the Airstream, as a family.  There was lots of running, screaming, jumping. dog-piling…

… and hugging. We couldn’t have asked for a better night. The year 2012 brought us baby Luka and put us on another cross-country Airstream adventure.

Then when we asked the kids to go to sleep, they were a little too wired.

Day 151: New year's eve in the keys.

So our plans for watching the season finale of Downton Abbey and demolishing a dairy-free pecan pie and a couple beers were scrapped because the girls had trouble falling asleep. And once they were asleep, Luka woke up screaming and teething. Ahhh, life on the road with kids!!

Day 151: New year's eve in the keys.

Hmmm, I wonder if this is Yoda’s payback for the Ariel incidence. Touché, Yoda.

the end,
marlene

Some distant New Year’s Eve when you’re out at midnight with martinis in hand, you’ll long for this version….
