We learned on our last trip that going back to back while staying here is a brutal undertaking. You spend all day walking and waiting and having your senses overloaded at the park, to go back for a second consecutive day is especially tough for parents like us who have little children. We opted to skip a day and hang out at the campground to enjoy what it has to offer instead.

Day 126: Taking a small break from Mickey.

To my surprise, the girls did not complain about this decision at all. I think they were also kind of looking forward to a day off to play. Ava is officially too big for the double stroller so she had to walk all day yesterday. There wasn’t too much complaining but she is happy to relax, do some art projects and go to the pool.

Day 126: Taking a small break from Mickey.

They collected some leaves, pine cones and branches and Marlene helped them make Christmas decorations like this pine cone garland she put together. Don’t laugh, we had to do with what we had.

Day 126: Taking a small break from Mickey.

After lunch we took the kids back to the Meadow Swimming Pool. The forecast had been calling for rain for today and tomorrow but we have not seen anything that resembles rain.

Day 126: Taking a small break from Mickey.

Swimming in December is exactly what we had hoped to do when we decided to spend Christmas in the Airstream.

Day 126: Taking a small break from Mickey.

Mila got back on that water slide and did not complain about getting water in her eyes this time.

Day 126: Taking a small break from Mickey.

That’s because her big sister let her use her swimming goggles 🙂

Day 126: Taking a small break from Mickey.

Luka once again is loving his time at the pool. I think this little dude is gonna be a surfer.

over and out,

Hi Lauren, it is a beautiful spot. Especially if you can get a waterfront spot. There are a fair amount of bugs that kind of caused some unpleasantness but just be diligent with bug repellent and you will be fine. We got lucky and got in on a cancellation a week ago. It is hard to find an opening but if you are flexible and persistent, it is possible to do it last minute.

I stumbled onto your blog from Flipboard, and am so delighted. Your full time RVing is so interesting to me (especiallyb/c my husband and I are in software, too, and enjoy travel, and dream about taking off on the road like that). But when I found the Keys and Florida posts, I was smitten! FL is our home away from home, and it makes me long to be there. More than anything, I smiled reading your posts of camping at Ft. Wilderness. I grew up camping there with my family in our airstream. What fun memories! Thanks for sharing your fantastic journey! Best wishes to you all!
